More Fantasy for You

As I said on the video, I was inspired by a pretty awesome caterpillar that, as it turns out, could have turned up in my backyard a few years ago O.O.  Don't get me wrong, I don't mind bugs (well junebugs are just plain scary...so maybe I'll paint some as therapy) but something about this caterpillar that looked like a stand-in for one of the grub bugs about to be eaten by Pumbaa, just screamed poisonous....hence my apprehension at wanting to pick it up, as the kid in the photo did.  Well, anyway, this illustration was done in watercolor mixed with acrylic, and finished up with ink.  On the video I hadn't quite finished it, but didn't feel like waiting around to ponder its creative shortcomings and just uploaded it.

So, here is the absolutely finished piece.  I actually really like how it turned out, so what do you guys think?

Speed Illustration - Watercolor and Ink

I'm planning on working this some more with ink and paint.  Somehow things that I create straight from my mind never turn out the way I intended and always with less detail >_< It's strange that I can draw nearly photo-realistically with a reference, but cannot for the life of me create something the way I envision it.  This WILL be worked on, and hopefully improved:))))

Baby Youtube Channel

So I have a few videos up on my wee little bitty baby YouTube channel.  It's in its early stages, but I'm trying to stay consistent with it and I want you guys to all go check it out and subscribe:) Take a look at them and comment away.  All of them are time lapse or speed painting vids of various styles and art experimentation on my part.

Thanks for watching...ha

Sci Fi Watercolor - Time Lapse Video

For this painting, I used watercolor, acrylic and charcoal, as well as ink for the outline (really just sharpie). I uploaded this video to youtube, and when I initially tried to share it to my blog my computer, apparently overloaded, flung itself into a state of catatonia.  Well, that's what it wanted me to think, as I clicked and clicked. Oh, but no, it wasn't just doing nuthin'...nuh uh...it was posting 4 identical posts on my blog. >< I didn't know until this morning...asldjflkdjf

Anyway, it's all good.  This piece didn't take me too long, I was really just experimenting with this style, and made it into a time lapse video / speed painting for all to see:) Enjoy

Adventures in Style

I've been experimenting lately with different styles, doing anything that fancies me.  I know I change my mind a lot when it comes to art...so here are two little paintings I did today.  One is acrylic and ink, and the other is watercolor, acrylic, ink and charcoal.  They were fun, but I'm not sure how I feel about them yet.

Green Being Youtube Video

I just uploaded another time lapse painting video.  It includes the early stages of the painting, with the rough sketch on canvas all the way to the finished piece.

Grumpy Round Creature with a Tail

So I've created another illustration, and this time it seems the character is a bit round, horned, tailed, and the dearth of joy emanating from his grouchy eyes is a bit funny...maybe it's just the mood I'm in at the moment, but I can relate.  I started this illustration with charcoal and water, and then later moved to watercolors.

Don't worry, I have pics for all to see;)

Before I added any watercolor to the charcoal, I sprayed the illustration with a sealant, to prevent
smearing.

^The watercolors I buy come in tubes, but for convenience I keep a bit of each color separated into these awesome little containers.  They are so easy to just throw in your bag or box, etc... and take with you, plus they keep me from wasting any of the paint.

^ At this point I had added just a little pigment to the illustration. I was having problems keeping the paint flowing smoothly, because apparently the spray I put over the charcoal acts something like glass and nothing wanted to stick...>_<

Time Lapse Video - Horned Alien

Well now, after much toiling, I have managed to figure out the workings of youtube (maybe) and now feel like an erudite scholar of the web (ha).  So, without further ado, here's the video! Oh, and one more thing...I know I sent everyone the link for the youtube page, but I thought I should just go ahead and post here as well! Now, really, here it is:

The music is not mine, but by a person called Stizerth...go check him out:

OK everyone, I have some big news that will most certainly be the epoch of your existence!  I just uploaded a really awesome, totally amazing (*face palm) time-lapse video of a horned alien I recently painted.  What a mouth full (* another face-palm----my forehead is stinging) but it really is quite a weird little creature.

Go check out the video HERE and like/subscribe to my channel.

Later on today, I will be show everyone some photos of the work.... See you guys soon.

Alternative Girl

A sketch...I guess she could turn into a character..or something.

Some New Droid Girl Doodles

Here's one of the sisters in action again.  I've been enjoying some leisurely sketches while I work on my digital/graphic..well...work ha.  I guess she's blasting away, possibly Dragon Ball style (wow, at my nerd self with that one) at some unseen robot O.o...

Poe Inspired Illustration

I used an excerpt from E. A. Poe's short poem "Alone" to inspire this illustration.

"From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view."

~Edgar Allen Poe

Passing Sketch

Saw these little shops and buildings, and thus whipped out the 'ole sketchbook.  I did this in ink and colored pencil.

The Sisters in (Some) Color

I've been playing with some color options, and here is what I finally chose....blue and yellow make for great undertones, eh?  Of course, there is a long way to go before I reach a final product that I'm content with.
